 Nestled into the top of a mist shrouded mountain bordering the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, in Western North Carolina, you will find Donna's Dream. Just imagine heading up a winding mountain road taking you far away from all of your daily cares and worries. As you ascend Fie Top Road to your destination of Donna's Dream you can feel the temperature get cooler and smell the fresh mountain air. Take in a deep breath and you'll feel like you've entered paradise. This paradise is not a sand beach with ocean waves. This paradise is green mountain peaks and fresh mist filled air. It is truly amazing to witness the naturalness of Maggie Valley and Western North Carolina. Donna's Dream is the perfect respite whether you are vacationing in spring, summer, fall or winter. There is something to do in every season, or if you choose there is nothing to do except relax and enjoy the view. 

In late June the temperature at Donna's Dream is at least 10 degrees cooler than the valley below. It is not uncommon for nighttime temperatures to dip into the 50's. Even during the daytime temperatures can be as low as 60 degrees. Take advantage of the cooler weather and enjoy reading by the fireplace. Donna's Dream affords an gorgeous view of the surrounding mountains and towns below. Sit out on the back porch swing and listen to the beautiful sounds of nature. At this altitude summer storms can be quite beautiful. The swing is the perfect spot to read your favorite novel or take an afternoon nap.

 Inside Donna's Dream you will find all the comforts of  home. In fact, Donna's Dream was designed to be just that, a home in the mountains. There is a full kitchen including dishwasher. You'll find everything you need appliance wise from pots and pans to a pizza cutter. Sure, cooking on vacation might not be your favorite activity but Donna's Dream is so relaxing that you won't want to leave the mountain for food. Make sure to stop at the local grocery store before heading up Fie Top Rd although there are many excellent local restaurants that will make your taste buds happy.
Donna's Dream is a wonderful place for a couple's getaway ,a family vacation or a men's or women's retreat.. There are 4 full bedrooms one with a king bed, two with queens, one with a double. In the loft area you will find two twin beds with pull outs underneath. The master suite has a king bed and direct access to the back porch. All linens are provided. On the main floor there is a laundry room so you can keep up and not have a lot of laundry to do upon returning home. Between the main level and the 2nd floor there are 3 1/2 baths. Donna’s Dream is decorated with antique and rural art that really adds to the cozy, like home feeling. Both the main living room and the master suite are equipped with a television. There is even a video cassette player in the living room, so you can bring along some of your favorite tapes.

 While at Donna's Dream be sure to take a nice long walk around the mountain. There are several trails available for hiking at the Cataloochee Ranch. One will even take you to the top of Hemphill Bald, which will have you feeling like you are on top of the world. Be sure to pack a picnic lunch, because at the top of the Bald there is a stone table, a perfect place for a lunch.. On the table there is a plaque dedicated to the founders of the Cataloochee Ranch that names all the beautiful mountains you will see around you. One of the most majestic is Mount Pisgah which is approximately 30 miles away. There just isn't a better view around. The last part of the walk will have you paralleling the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. This is nature at its best.
When you are ready to go back down the mountain and search the surrounding areas you will find there are activities for every personality. In Maggie Valley itself there are numerous antique and gift shops, for those who love to shop. If you have children or are a kid at heart, be sure to stop at one of several miniature golf courses in Maggie. For those more inclined to play 18 full holes be sure to visit the many golf courses in the area.
